Three questions, three answers
| Question | Answer as of 22.10.2026 |
|---|---|
| Does EU261 apply? | No: it departs from Armenia and lands in Russia, both outside the EU. |
| Are there Armenian rules with a fixed payout? | We could not find any in English, Russian or Armenian. We cannot say they do not exist either. |
| Do Russian rules apply? | They may for Russian carriers, but whether they cover an international flight has not been verified. |
Whether you fly Aeroflot, S7, Pobeda or an Armenian carrier, the conclusion is the same: do not count on a specific amount in advance.
AirHelp+ 11% off until 30.11.2026
Code AHTPO11 gives 11% off AirHelp+ Smart and Pro until 30.11.2026 inclusive. Under Travelpayouts terms the code is not valid in the USA. The plan makes sense for European trips: AirHelp+ insurance payouts do not cover flights to or from Russia.

Where the talk of EU rules in Armenia comes from
The EU-Armenia Common Aviation Area Agreement, signed on 15.11.2021, lists Regulation 261/2004 (articles 1-16) in Annex II, under consumer protection. The parties commit to aligning their laws, subject to transitional provisions.
A commitment in a treaty is not the same as a rule in force in Armenian law. Whether Armenia has adopted these rules and whether they apply to a flight to Moscow is not confirmed, so we would not cite the agreement in a claim as a ready-made right to payment.
What to collect at the airport
Even with unclear rules, evidence helps whatever happens next:
- Your boarding pass and booking showing the flight number and the operating airline.
- A photo of the departures board with the planned and new times.
- Your actual arrival time in Moscow: a screenshot at landing or the airline's message.
- Receipts for food, water, taxis or a hotel you paid for yourself.
- A written reason for the delay, if the airline provides one.
Who to contact
- Your first stop is the airline that operated the flight.
- If a Russian carrier operated it, you can cite Air Code art. 120: 100 roubles per hour late, capped at 50% of the fare. We do not know whether it is accepted for international flights.
- We do not offer claims services for this route: none of the regimes we checked gives a fixed payout on it.
- AirHelp+ insurance payouts do not cover flights to or from Russia, so the plan does not protect this flight.

Is there compensation for a delayed Yerevan-Moscow flight?
There is no fixed EU261 payout. We found no Armenian rules with fixed amounts, and Russian rules are unverified for international flights.
Does EU261 apply in Armenia after the EU agreement?
The regulation is listed in the agreement's annex and Armenia committed to aligning its laws. Whether these rules are in force now is not confirmed.
What should I keep if my flight is delayed?
Boarding pass, a photo of the board, your actual arrival time and receipts for anything you paid for.
Can I claim through AirHelp?
We do not offer it for this flight: the applicable rules are unconfirmed, and AirHelp+ insurance payouts exclude flights to Russia.
