What AirHelp takes and what you keep

Before handing your claim to an intermediary, work out honestly what you will actually receive and when the intermediary will not take the case at all. The figures below come from AirHelp's price list PL2.26 of 11.08.2026, followed by what to prepare.

35%fee incl. VAT, only if successful
+15%if court is needed, up to 50%

What the fee is made of

No win, no fee

You pay only if compensation comes through. If the airline refuses and no money arrives, there is no fee.

Standard rate

35% of the compensation, VAT included.

Court

Another 15% on top of 35%, up to 50% in total. According to AirHelp, about 3% of cases go to court.

Goodwill payout

If the airline pays as a goodwill gesture, AirHelp charges $29.99. Not charged if the payout is under $30 or under 3,000 points.

How much you keep

A worked example using EU261 amounts. Under European regulations compensation is paid in euros:

CompensationNo court, you keep 65%With court, you keep 50%
€250€162.50€125
€400€260€200
€600€390€300

If you claim yourself there is no fee, but you handle the airline and any court case on your own. AirHelp+ members pay neither the 35% nor the 15% if they claim during the membership and within 60 days of the flight.

When AirHelp may not take your case

What to prepare before you claim

  1. Flight number, date and booking. Check "operated by": the carrier decides whether EU261 covers arrivals into the EU.
  2. Your actual arrival time at the final destination: compensation depends on late arrival.
  3. What the airline said about the cause of the delay or cancellation.
  4. Receipts for food and a hotel if you paid yourself: that is a separate refund, not part of the compensation.
  5. Do not wait: AirHelp says that in most cases you can claim up to three years after the disruption, but the exact limit depends on the country.
