eSIM or a local SIM card for your first days in Armenia: eSIM prices in October 2026, how to install one, what to check on your phone and when a local operator is the better deal.

The first thing you need at Zvartnots airport is internet: to call a taxi, message your landlord, open a map. Local SIM cards are sold at the airport too, but you need your passport and a queue at the operator's shop. An eSIM can be bought and installed at home and switched on after landing. Here is when that is convenient and what it costs. Prices are as of 22 October 2026.

What an eSIM for Armenia costs

What to know about these plans:

Data only. No calls or SMS. Call via WhatsApp or Telegram.
Validity starts when the eSIM connects to a network, not at purchase. The plan must be activated within 180 days of payment.
No documents: bought online without ID checks.
One QR code per phone. Travelling as a family, buy a separate eSIM for each person.
Payment: Yesim lists Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and UnionPay.

How much for a week of apartment hunting: maps, messengers with photos and videos of apartments and taxis usually fit into 3-5 GB. With many video calls, take 10 GB.

Check your phone before buying

1. Dial *#06#. If you see an EID line, the phone supports eSIM. 2. The phone must not be locked to one carrier: locked devices will not accept another eSIM. 3. Install the eSIM at home over Wi-Fi and switch it on after landing. Downloading it at the airport without internet is harder.

If you plan to stay
