The key point: buy and install before the trip
Yesim's India page says it plainly: access to the Yesim app and website in India may be restricted by local regulation, so the eSIM must be bought and installed before you travel.
- While still in Yerevan, check your phone: dial *#06# and look for an EID line.
- Buy a plan on yesim.app and install the eSIM by QR code straight away, while you have home Wi-Fi.
- Do not switch it on early: the plan period only starts once it connects to a network in India.
- You have 180 days after purchase to activate it, so buying a month ahead is fine.
Leave the installation until you land and you may end up with no data and no way to buy any.
