The three Georgian cities have 1,617 offers between them, the two Armenian ones 266, about six times fewer. Dilijan and Vanadzor have zero offers, and Jermuk, Sevan and Tsaghkadzor do not even have town pages.
The Yerevan price is a sample of 12 cars from the first page, not the floor of the whole list, so it does not compare directly with 1,395 ₽ in Tbilisi. The gap in choice is clear either way.

What it means in practice
Armenia: everything goes through Yerevan
Almost all rentals are in Yerevan. Heading to the regions, rent in the capital and count the days the car sits idle.
Georgia: rent where you land
Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi each offer a decent choice on their own. No need to bring a car from another city.
Two countries, one trip
It is usually simpler to rent a car in each country than to cross the border in a rental.
The catch for Yerevan residents
You still have to get to Georgia. If the trip is short and stays in Armenia, there is no point counting Georgia in.
If you do cross the border
- Get the rental company's written permission to leave Armenia. It almost always costs extra.
- Buy Georgian insurance for a car with Armenian plates: online at tpl.ge or at the border.
- Without it the fine is 100-200 lari.
- Count every day of the trip: the drive there and back is paid too.

Licences in both countries
- Armenia: Russian national licences are valid. See our article.
- Georgia: Russian national licences are recognised under the Vienna Convention for about a year from entry. You need the original.
